Client Yen Dang
Industry Food + Beverage
A busy Vietnamese food outlet in a stylish CBD food market, and its original sister location and Northbridge institution, Phi Yen required branding which could adapt to and enhance both lcoations. The challenge was to create an authentic Vietnamese feel with a contemporary twist as the Phi Yen menu is based around traditional family recipes.
To pay homage to the Vietnamese culture we created a collage style illustration as part of the brand tool kit that was used from wall murals to business cards. We combined this with strong modern typography and a fresh colour scheme to reflect the vibrant, fresh flavours of the cuisine.

Phi Yen, which translates to 'little swallow' in Vietnamese, took its name from its amazingly energetic owner, Yen Dang, who was affectionately given the name when she was a little girl in Vietnam.
We collaborated with a local artist to create a key signage element - a huge rosette of Asian spoons that echoes the floral graphic within the logotype and throughout brand applications. It quickly became a memorable talking point for patrons
If you haven't experienced the wonderful flavours of Yen's and her chef husband Tuan's traditional family cuisine, we recommend you check out their huge menu of tasty offerings.

"Firstnature played an important role in helping my restaurant to expand into our second location. Their designs were very well received and I am very happy with their creativity, advice and service. I trust them to always do the best job for me."
